I painted this with the intent to use my painted portrait image of Mark as part of special, exclusive separate small wood pieces I am creating for upcoming exhibits this year.
I’m thrilled with how this large portrait on Canvas came out. I have several six degrees of separation connections to Mark and have wanted to paint him or the band for awhile.
Of course, I have loved Devo and Mark’s music and artistic works for years.
This piece is striking with the black and white / greyscale subject in the forefront of a bright yellow background. The yellow background is meant to pay homage to the yellow jumpsuits that Devo have worn onstage throughout the years.
