About
I am an artist and musician.
I grew up in a famous family of country and rock musicians in London, Los Angeles, and Nashville.
Being a visual artist is the one thing that brings me out of the shadow of my family.
My paintings are mostly of my family members or other close family friends who were also performers who influenced me.
My work is a visual memoir of sorts.
Each portrait has a personal memory or story associated with the subject.
My recent focus is realistic portraits of musicians with a modern feel.
The subject is painted in grayscale with bold black shadows and heavy emphasis on the white paint for the highlights.
The main image pops against the bold-colored background.

The light and shadows capture the movement of the person.
I am fortunate enough to be able to collaborate with former rock photographer, Chalkie Davies who has kindly provided his photos for me to use as reference images for several of my pieces. I adapt these images onto the canvas pouring how I feel about the person in my interpretation of his photograph.
Everything within a photograph does not always translate the same when painted. The modification or deletion of a light reflection or added movement with strokes of white and gray may be what is needed to emote a feeling from the painting. It becomes my original piece.
